How many times have you promised yourself that you will not eat a second helping of food or that you will stop eating sugar this winter only to be foiled by a delectable treat wafting its aroma right into your nose?
The number one cause of weight gain during the holidays is overeating. Did you hear about the nutrition professor who recently did a Twinkie Diet and still lost 27 pounds? Gross to be on a Twinkie Diet, I know, but he was trying to prove to his students that the amount of calories you eat is directly correlated with your weight.
The same holds true for you. If you are like most people during this time of the year, you will not have those extra hours available to burn off all the excess calories you are consuming. Therefore, you are going to have to come up with another strategy.
Luckily you've got me as your coach and I've created the strategy for you. Eat until you are 80% full and stop. As soon as you are 80% full, stop eating. Wait for 2-3 hours and then you can eat again, but you can only fill up 80%.
Why does this work? Well, when you eat this way you are helping your natural process of digestion to work more effectively because there is room in your stomach to mix with the important digestive juices that help you absorb ALL the nutrition you take in.
Plus, your brain has a 20 minute delay that makes it very difficult to know when you are actually full. If you stick with 80%, then you will never overeat or stuff yourself.
